EV Strategic Realignment Charges Weigh on Profitability
GM recorded additional net charges of $2.3 billion in the three months ended June 30, 2026 related to its EV strategic realignment, including $1.3B for commercial negotiations with suppliers/JV partners, $1.1B of losses on contractual supply agreements, and $0.5B for compliance-related assets, net of $0.7B in cost-sharing recoveries. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, total net charges were $3.4 billion, with $2.5 billion expected to have a cash impact; management believes it has substantially completed recognition of material cash charges related to this realignment.
